The murder of Isaiah Furbert is another shocking statistic. At 19-years-old he must be the youngest person to die by the gun yet.
What I find desperately sad, however, is that the energy shown about the SSM debate is not on show here.
Don’t get me wrong, SSM is an extremely important issue and I find it staggering that in the year 2016 we have to argue about what is, essentially, a human rights issue. (Some will argue over that, but it would be just semantics.)
But who is changing their Facebook status into a multitude of colours in protest over the shooting of a TEENAGER? Where are the churches? Where are the benefactors who bankrolled SSM campaigns? Where are the petitions? Who is contacting overseas media in outrage?
Nowhere and none.
Is a right to life a human right? Is a right to law and order a human right? I’ll wait and watch for the marches, the campaigns, the anonymous benefactors to come along.
But I tell you one thing – I won’t be holding my breath.
