I don’t know if we can really draw a comparison – so I’d like some thoughts – but this has been bugging me for a while.
People were (rightly) up arms at the cost of Sylvan Richards’ trip to Rio for the Olympics – $31K for two, for ten days – at a time when Government is preaching austerity it was spectacularly poor judgement.
Last October we had this on Bernews: A trip by Premier Michael Dunkley to the UK for meetings cost $6,554.30; while his trip to the USA for the BTA’s “Race to Bermuda” launch and the Congressional Black Caucus conference cost $3,662.33, according to recent listings on the Government’s travel webpage.
The listing for the London trip on the web page said, “The Premier Michael H. Dunkley, visited London 24th – 26th August, 2015 for meetings with Government officials.
For a trip lasting from the 24th to the 26th, the cost was $6.5K
Do the maths or is that unfair?
