I really do not have the time to do this, but I am so shocked by the comments, that something has to be said.
Jason Hayward, President of the BPSU, has issued a statement following the Budget in which is criticizes the roll-back of payroll concessions.
The story says that “the president of the Bermuda Public Services Union highlighted that employees will experience a salary reduction of 5.5 per cent, while their employers will pay no additional tax.”
He is then quoted as saying: “That is an injustice that must be corrected,” he said. “The employers should be made responsible for a portion of the applicable 5.5 per cent payroll tax rate.”
On what planet does Mr Hayward live? Does he actually know what employers have to pay already? Does he want to jeopardise employment even further?
Stunning …. just stunning. How many people from the BPSU have been laid off? Please, remind me again.
