I think today’s Bermuda Sun has it about right with its headline ‘How Low Will They Go?’ in reference to a bizarre exchange between PLP Leader Marc Bean and Independent MP Terry Lister in the House of Assembly on Friday.
I don’t know if there is any history between the two men, but I cannot think of any excuse to debase the House of Assembly with this kind of sleazy rhetoric. I cannot call it a debate.
It is not the first time, either, that Mr Bean has let loose with strange statements – the lady of the night allegations and the ganjatea controversy are two recently.
This level of discourse has absolutely no place in a Chamber that sets the laws that govern the people. How can anyone respect those laws when there is behavior like this? What is the view of those looking in from the outside? Unfortunately it does not take a psychic to answer that one…….
We also now have even more allegations left hanging there – something that is fast becoming a mess and one that must leave the voter bamboozled.
I am glad the Bermuda Sun carried its headline today and I wish others had followed. There should be no doubt as to what we think about this behavior from our elected representatives.
