So what next?
Even the RG is saying PCC should do the honourable thing and resign.
Jetgate has become a slow motion train wreck for the OBA and it is difficult to see how there cannot be consequences.
Will someone fall on their sword or will the party brazen it out?
Checking the blogs, the Twittersphere and the FB pages, there seems to be a consensus that someone has to resign.
Some of this is a knee-jerk reaction and will pass, but the damage has been done. The PLP will not let this go, not now and certainly not at election time.
I doubt the electorate will forget either, I sense that after the PLP largesse that cost them the last election there is little patience left with politics and politicians and that the OBA is letting them down.
The problem is, there surely is more to come. The latest revelations in The Sun will not be the last. The media is smelling blood.
UPDATE: I have just read this: http://bernews.com/2014/05/row-surrounding-jetgate-donation-continues
This is interesting: “Last night’s ZBM broadcast asked the Premier whether the account the money went to was held by Stephen DaCosta and Derrick Green, which the Premier declined to answer.
“ZBM also asked Tourism Minister Shawn Crockwell the same question, to which Minister Crockwell replied, “I think there is some consistency with the names you mentioned,” but declined to answer a strict yes or no saying he has not seen documentation.”
Crockwell’s answer is akin to saying ‘You may say that, I could not possibly comment’. (Those who saw the original House of Cards will know what I mean.)
Oh dear, oh dear………..
UPDATE 2: So PCC is still Premier. I would love to have been a fly on the wall. I guess Derrick Green was there giving ‘evidence’ to the OBA internal investigation into the Jetgate affair – at least I hope that was why he was there.
I still believe we have not heard the last of this, as I said, the media is smelling blood, it will be difficult to stop the bloodhounds now.
The PLP will continue to make hay and it will continue to cast a shadow over PCC and the OBA – and Bermuda.
It is difficult to see how the OBA will be able to draw a line under this.
Kudos to Gary Moreno – I’ve not seen a reporter chasing a politician like that for ages.
